Various Christmas Ministries
At First United Methodist we understand that Christmas was meant to change the world. As we celebrate the birth of Christ together we provide you with several opportunities to share the love of Christ in your own community each Christmas:
Christmas Prison Ministry. A prison cell can be a lonely place to spend Christmas. Share the love and grace of God with our local prisoners this Christmas by providing them with homemade cakes and Chistian reading material.
Vashti Angel Tree. Vashti is our local Methodist home for abused and neglected children. Help make these children's Christmas special by providing them gifts this Christmas.
Salvation Army Bell Ringer. We consider the local Salvation Army our partners in ministry to the less fortunate. Help raise funds for this vital ministry this Christmas by ringing the Salvation Army bell outside a local store.
Adopt-a-Family. If you or your small group are interested in "adopting" a local needy family this Christmas by providing them gifts and/or food, we would be glad to help.
Food Bank Christmas Parties. Leading up to Christmas we host a series of Christmas parties for all the clients that pass through the Food Bank at this time of year (close to 1000 persons). Join us as we share some Christmas goodies, small gifts for the children, prayer, and the joy of Christmas with our neighbors.
If you want more information about any of these Christmas outreach opportunities, please contact our Director of Missions and Discipleship, Chris Goff.
